Common Issues with L Shaped Brackets

For L Shaped Brackets, dimensional accuracy and load-bearing capacity are critical. Although they are basic structural components, deviations in angular tolerances, material fatigue, or poor surface treatment can jeopardize an entire assembly line or building structure. Indentations and Die Bite Markings

Indentations and die bite markings on L Shaped Brackets occur because high friction between the metal sheet and the bottom V-die during the bending process can cause localized scratches or bite marks, compromising the surface finish.

Poor Coating Adhesion (Peeling/Flaking)

Peeling of the powder coating or paint on L Shaped Brackets is caused by insufficient surface pretreatment, resulting in residual stamping oil, scale, or oxidation layers on the substrate.

We implement a rigorous multi-stage chemical cleaning and phosphating process prior to coating. We regularly conduct cross-adhesion tests (ASTM D3359) to ensure coating durability.

Angle Deviation (Springback)

During the forming of L Shaped Brackets, the material undergoes elastic springback after the press brake punch retracts. This “springback” causes the 90-degree angle to open, thereby affecting assembly tolerances.

Supro calculates the K-factor for specific materials and applies over-bend compensation. Additionally, we use advanced CNC press brakes equipped with real-time laser angle measurement to ensure strict adherence to the ±0.5° tolerance requirement.

Hole Deformation Near Bends

If the mounting holes on an L Shaped Bracket are too close to the bend line, the stretching of the metal during forming can cause the holes to deform, making it impossible to insert fasteners.

Supro strictly adheres to DFM (Design for Manufacturability) guidelines. The distance from the hole edge to the bend line must be at least 2.5 times the sum of the material thickness and the bend radius (2.5T + R). Alternatively, holes can be punched after the bending process is complete.
