What is a Soundproof Box?

A Soundproof Box, also known as an acoustic enclosure, is an enclosed structure constructed from high-density materials and sound-absorbing materials designed to block, absorb, and control sound waves. It is intended to isolate and attenuate high-decibel noise generated by industrial machinery, compressors, and generators.

To ensure maximum decibel (dBA) reduction and achieve exceptional Sound Transmission Class (STC) ratings, we manufacture Soundproof Boxes using heavy-gauge galvanized steel or aluminum sheets, with acoustic decoupling achieved through high-density acoustic rock wool and weighted ethylene underlayment. Our advanced CNC laser cutting and precision bending processes ensure airtight mechanical joints, completely eliminating acoustic leakage at seams. Additionally, we integrate custom baffled ventilation silencers that ensure optimal thermal management without compromising noise control performance.

Common Issues with Soundproof Boxes

Procuring a reliable soundproof box for industrial machinery, generators, or compressors requires not only basic sheet metal fabrication but also the precise integration of acoustics, thermodynamics, and structural engineering. Substandard manufacturing quality often leads to acoustic leakage, equipment overheating, or structural resonance. Based on our extensive quality control data and feedback from field engineers in North America and Europe, we have identified the most common defects in soundproof box manufacturing, their root causes, and the rigorous engineering solutions we implement to prevent them.

“Drum Effect” (Structural Resonance)

Soundproof boxes can actually amplify low-frequency noise; when the internal machinery is running, the enclosure vibrates like a drum. The root causes are: using metal sheets that are too thin, a lack of structural rigidity, or omitting vibration-damping materials on large panels.

We specify the use of heavy-gauge steel sheets (typically 12- to 14-gauge) and weld Z- or U-shaped reinforcing ribs inside. Additionally, we apply weighted vinyl (MLV) or high-density damping compounds directly to the base material to eliminate panel resonance.

Equipment Overheating (Poor Heat Management)

Soundproofing measures trap heat while blocking noise, causing internal machinery to overheat and shut down automatically. Standard ventilation openings are intended to allow sound to escape, but inexperienced manufacturers often seal them off, thereby blocking airflow.

We design and manufacture custom acoustic louver systems. These labyrinthine airflow channels allow critical heat to escape while forcing sound waves to bounce back into the sound-absorbing material, effectively isolating noise.

Acoustic Leaks at Seams and Joints

High-frequency noise easily escapes from the corners and edges of the Soundproof Box, preventing the achievement of dBA noise reduction targets. The root cause is: insufficient CNC bending precision creates microscopic gaps during assembly, or the use of intermittent spot welding instead of fully sealed joints.

Our production facility utilizes high-precision CNC bending machines equipped with active angle measurement capabilities. All acoustic boundary seams are continuously TIG/MIG welded by robots, ensuring 100% airtightness and acoustic integrity.

Delamination of Soundproofing Materials

The soundproofing foam or rock wool inside the Soundproof Box delaminates after several months of use and falls onto the operating machinery. The root cause is the reliance on inexpensive low-temperature adhesives, which degrade under the heat and vibration of industrial equipment.

We use high-temperature industrial adhesives in combination with a mechanical fastening system. All soundproof rock wool is permanently secured using precision-punched, galvanized perforated metal backing plates.
