Taking advantage of the malleability and good ductility of aluminum alloy 5052, we supplied aluminum alloy stamping parts to a professional automotive parts manufacturer. The product was designed with precision sealing grooves around the perimeter for the installation of rubber seals. The interior required stamped molding markings, as well as locating bumps. A 10mm high mounting edge is provided around the perimeter and the product is clean, polished and burr free. The product was made from 1mm aluminum sheet, molded in 6 different molds, with a total order of 1,000,000 pieces, and needed to pass a 10% conformity rate, with PPAP and FMEA reports.
Difficulty: This product was initially designed without adding the surrounding sealing ring grooves, which resulted in deformation of the product. The aluminum alloy twisted during the stamping process, resulting in an uneven product that could not be mounted. Supro MFG’s team of engineers did some calculations and found that adding the sealing ring could effectively reduce the risk of deformation.

Welding performance
① the alloy of gas welding, arc welding, resistance welding, spot welding, seam welding performance is good, two argon arc welding tendency to crystallization cracks. Hard brazing performance is good, and soft brazing performance is poor.
② high strength and plasticity of the weld, weld strength up to 90% ~ 95% of the base metal strength. But the weld is not high airtightness, recommended 5A03 alloy for solder, can improve its airtightness, and can eliminate the tendency to crack.
